Files in Build PlanReader
What leaves the computer
File bytes never leave your computer for Files. Files works on the computer; Build only hears where files are, so the web and your other computers can find them.
Your company chooses
- Paths and fingerprints, the default: each file’s path and name, its size and dates, and its fingerprint. The web and your other computers can list a job’s files by name.
- Fingerprints and job numbers only: no file or folder names and no paths. The web shows kinds and counts. Switching to this forgets the names Build already holds, and that can’t be undone; names come back only as computers send them after a switch back.
Records your team saves on purpose, like prices, sends and drawing sets, keep their names either way.
For support, each computer also sends counts: how its one-file checks went (the storage app, its version, passed or failed and why, as code words) and how many files wait for a full check. Never a file name.
When you sign out of a company on a computer, Build forgets what that computer sent it.
Build’s database is hosted in the United States (us-east-1).
To see it: Build PlanReader › Settings › Files › What leaves this computer shows the choice and what this computer sent. A company admin changes the choice there, or on the company’s page on the web.
