A building is put up by dozens of companies: the owner, the architect and engineers, the GC, every trade, the suppliers, the detailers and the crew. Each one keeps its own copy of the plans, its own takeoff and its own list of open questions.

Build puts them on one shared 3D model, with the plans and every bid, RFI and change on it, simple enough for a sub or a GC to open from a link. Every company on the job, in one model.

How it spreads

Every company on Build brings its jobs with it. A bid goes to the GC as a 3D model with one button to join the project team. The GC and the trades are invited into the job’s Building, and a company asks its detailers and vendors to join. They open, join and work free, and the ones that bid become the next paying companies.

Margin on every bid

Every bid is built up from the cost, so its gross margin and net profit are on it for everyone at the company who works it. Trades usually price on a flat markup or a gut-check price per foot, and learn what a job made after it’s over.

Made by a working estimator

Build puts the whole project team on one shared 3D model: the GC, every trade, the detailers and the vendors, simple enough for a sub or a GC to open from a link. It is made by Kyle Langford, a structural steel estimator in Los Angeles, and it runs real bids every day. Steel goes deepest today: from the plan set to a takeoff, a 3D model and a price. Every trade gets its sheets, the shared model, bids and RFIs.
